The Short Version

MayaAstro is a hobby project built by one person in Ireland who loves the moon and code. There's no company behind this, no business entity, no revenue model. Everything is free because it was built for learning, fun, and sharing cosmic curiosity.

We barely collect any data. No accounts, no emails, no tracking, no ads, no cookies worth mentioning. Your preferences live in your browser and never leave your device. When you use an AI feature, the text goes to Anthropic's API and comes back — we don't keep a copy.

That's genuinely it. The rest of this page exists because transparency matters, even when there's almost nothing to be transparent about.

What We Actually Collect

  • Browser localStorage: Your dream journal entries, chart style preference, horoscope sign selection. This lives entirely on your device. We literally cannot see it. It never touches a server.
  • Birth details: When you voluntarily enter your birth date, time, and place for a chart calculation, that data is processed in real-time and sent back to your browser. It is not stored on any server, anywhere, ever.
  • Dream text & questions:When you submit a dream for interpretation or ask a tarot question, that text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. We don't keep a copy on our end.
  • Vercel Analytics:Anonymous page view counts. No cookies. No personal data. No cross-site tracking. Just “someone visited the tarot page” — not “Sarah from Dublin visited the tarot page at 2am.”
  • Vercel Speed Insights: Anonymous performance metrics (page load times, core web vitals). Helps us make the site faster. No personal data.

What We Don't Collect

This list is longer than the previous one, which tells you something:

  • No email addresses
  • No names or identity information
  • No payment or financial information (everything is free, remember?)
  • No GPS or location tracking
  • No phone numbers
  • No social media profiles
  • No advertising identifiers
  • No tracking cookies
  • No Google Analytics
  • No Facebook Pixel
  • No ad networks of any kind
  • No cross-site tracking whatsoever

Third-Party Services

Two services process data on our behalf:

  • Anthropic (Claude API):Powers all AI features — horoscopes, tarot readings, dream interpretations, birth chart readings, and compatibility reports. Your input text is sent to their API and their response is returned to you. We don't store either side. Their privacy policy: anthropic.com/privacy

That's the complete list. No other third parties touch your data.

Where Your Data Lives

In your browser. That's it. There is no MayaAstro database. There is no server storing your information. Your dream journal, your chart preferences, your sign selection — it all lives in your browser's localStorage. You can delete everything instantly by clearing your browser data.

Your Rights Under GDPR

MayaAstro is operated from Ireland, so GDPR applies and we take it seriously. That said, since we collect virtually no personal data, most data controller obligations don't apply in practice. But here are your rights regardless:

  • Access: All your data is in your browser localStorage. Open DevTools and look.
  • Erasure: Clear your browser data. Done.
  • Portability: Your localStorage data is yours — export it anytime.
  • Object: We don't process personal data for marketing, so there's nothing to object to.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for advertising. Your rights to know and delete are covered above — it's all in your browser.

Children's Privacy

MayaAstro is not directed at children under 16 (the GDPR standard in Ireland and the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. The birth chart calculator accepts any date but does not verify age.

AI-Generated Content

Everything interpretive on this site — horoscopes, tarot readings, dream analysis, birth chart readings, compatibility reports — is generated by artificial intelligence. This content is for entertainment and self-reflection only. It is not professional medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice. AI can be wrong, weird, or occasionally nonsensical. Use your own judgment.

Data Retention

We retain no user data on any server. API calls to Anthropic are subject to their retention policy. Vercel Analytics follows their standard retention. Your localStorage persists until you clear it — which you can do anytime.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices ever change, this page will be updated. Given that this is a hobby project with no plans to monetize, changes are unlikely to make things worse.
